It’s important to conserve resources for as long as possible – but in some exceptional cases, it is impossible to erase the data despite our best efforts. Because data protection is our top priority, we ensure environmentally responsible destruction of the storage device when circumstances require it.

When it comes to storage media destruction, we are also ahead of the game in terms of security and transparency. We actually exceed current certification standards: Instead of delegating the process to subcontractors, we carry out the destruction on site. Our staff all receive special training on data protection and undergo a thorough security check. In addition, the entire process is transparently documented using video recordings, in which the serial number of the respective storage media can also be identified. You can access the recordings and the corresponding certificates of destruction for each storage medium on our Spect customer portal, in accordance with GDPR and BDSG guidelines.

Questions and answers on data carrier destruction
Can I have my data storage devices destroyed by Green IT Solution?
Yes, but we recommend that you first attempt to have them professionally erased so that the devices can get a second chance at life. If this is not possible for technical reasons, the storage devices will be destroyed by our shredder. A video of the destruction process will be available on request.
How are the data storage devices destroyed?
We destroy all storage media with our shredder. This destroys the material in accordance with the DIN standard, and the data is thus irretrievably destroyed.
What happens to the shredded storage media?
The shredded material goes to our regional recycling partner. In this way, we ensure that the important raw materials are fed back into the circular economy rather than ending up as waste.
Will I receive proof of destruction?
After the destruction is complete, you will receive proof of destruction for each device, based on its unique serial number. This allows you to prove that you have disposed of your devices properly in the event of an external audit.
Who is the recycling partner?
Our partner is a regional recycling company, which allows us to avoid long-distance transport of the materials.
